A picture of a degraded area on July 21st 2003, before restoration actions occurred. Dead and dying creosote (Larrea tridentata) is visible as is erosion from sheet flow between shrubs and "pedestalling" of shrubs that are higher than the surrounding soil that is severely eroded.
