About Michelle Henson
Michelle Henson is a botanist is the Service鈥檚 Asheville Field Office. Her primary duties include:
- Compiles and analyzes data used for decisions on which Western North Carolina plants receive Endangered Species Act protection, as obligated in section 4 of the Endangered Species Act.
- Develops and implements recovery plans for Western North Carolina plants protected under the Endangered Species Act as, called for the section 4 of the Endangered Species Act.
- Reviews the status of Western North Carolina plants that are protected by the Endangered Species Act to determine if such protections remain warranted, as called for in section 4 of the Endangered Species Act.
Additionally, as the plant expert in the Asheville Field Office, she provides technical expertise on 1) habitat restoration efforts with private landowners under the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Act; and 2) requisite review of federal projects under section 7 of the Endangered Species Act.
