Pool 13 River Clean Up

Public is invited to River Clean Up on June 7

The public is invited to participate in an Upper Mississippi River cleanup in Pool 13 on June 7 from 9AM-1PM. The river cleanup is part of One Mississippi鈥檚 鈥淩iver Days of Action鈥 event that is being sponsored by the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, Stewards of Upper Mississippi River Refuge, the City of Savanna and Delta Waterfowl.

Participants will meet at Marquette Park along the Mississippi River shoreline in Savanna, Illinois. The public is encouraged to bring boats, kayaks, canoes and other water transport vehicles. Past flooding events on the river have resulted in a large amount of debris and trash being scattered along shorelines, islands, backwaters and the main river channel.

The sponsors are encouraging local organizations, school groups, families and individuals to participate in this important conservation initiative. For additional information, please contact the Refuge office at 815-273-2732.
